SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Current South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson is seeking another go-around as South Dakota’s Representative out in Washington, D.C. Johnson, the incumbent of South Dakota’s at-large congressional district says he has “even more energy to burn,” that’s according to a campaign re-election video on the congressman’s website.
Johnson, the former chief of staff to former South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard is running against South Dakota’s District 27 Representative Elizabeth Marty May. May, who describes herself as a staunch conservative and a proponent of President Donald Trump’s building of a wall at the southern border, assumed office back in January 2013 after a representative left the legislature leaving a seat open.
Both Republican candidates have centered their campaigns on the need to grow South Dakota’s rural economy, with an emphasis on protecting conservative values.
Mail or Drop-off absentee ballots must be to the County Auditor by Monday, June 1. The date of South Dakota’s 2020 Primary Elections is June 2, 2020.
