SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls Schools Chief Brian Maher says remote learning this week will be a work in progress.
He’s not really worried about assessing success right now, or student progress:
“We are going to be figuring out new things together. We are going to work on resilience. We are going to work on how to adjust to a new environment.”
Maher says the district is preparing alternatives for students that don’t have access to the internet.
Teachers will be contacting all parents to fill them in, and the new learning reality will start, in earnest, on Tuesday.
Dr. Maher says remote learning could last till the end of the school year.
“..Wouldn’t surprise me if that is the case, but my crystal ball isn’t clear enough yet to make that decision.”
The elementary grades will be using a system called Learning Boards. The middle and high schools will also be using interactive systems.
Sioux Falls schools are closed until further notice in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
