MADISON, S.D. (KELO.com) — Emergency management officials are asking that you do not flush anything other than toilet paper in your commode.
Yes, there is a toilet paper shortage. But officials warn that paper products other than toilet paper can clog your sewer system. That causes additional health issues on top of worries about the coronavirus.
Below is a posting from Lake County Emergency Management about non-toilet paper dos and don’ts.
- The South Dakota Dept. of Environment and Natural Resources has just issued this statement. ue to the coronavirus concerns, there has been a shortage of toilet paper on store shelves. This may cause users to look for alternative products. Please remind citizens that paper towels, facial tissues, baby wipes, flushable wipes, and other similar items do not break down like toilet paper and can cause sanitary sewer overflows, which in turn can cause additional public health hazards.
