– All NCAA postseason events — winter and spring sports — have been cancelled, including the Div. I, II, and III men’s and women’s basketball tournaments. This includes the Div. II wrestling championships, which had just started in Sioux Falls. The University of Sioux Falls women and Northern State men were both to play games at the Central Region tourney at different locations in Missouri.
– The South Dakota High School Activities Association is limiting the rest of the Class B girls state basketball tournament in Spearfish to crowds of no more than 250 people, forcing schools to issue only 125 tickets per team. Patrons will be forced to clear the Black Hills State venue after every game.
– Minnesota and Nebraska state high school basketball tournaments go on with general public not allowed, while Wyoming cancels its state tournaments.
– The NAIA Div. II men’s basketball tournament in the Sanford Pentagon was cancelled during a game at noon on Wednesday, as was all NAIA athletic events indefinitely.
– The Sioux Falls Stampede and Sioux Falls Skyforce’s seasons are suspended indefinitely along with the rest of the USHL and NBA G-League.
– The Summit League has suspended competitions for all league members on their campuses until March 30. This includes South Dakota and South Dakota State.
– The NBA season is suspended. Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell have tested positive for coronavirus.
– The NHL season is suspended indefinitely, while Major League Baseball has postponed its opening day from March 12 to March 26 and shut down spring training.
– The CBI (College Basketball Invitational) — which both SDSU and USD have competed in the last decade and may have invited the Jacks or Yotes men — is cancelled.
