PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — The South Dakota House has approved written driver’s license exams in Spanish.
But the bill was amended so has to go back to the Senate for a final vote and then on to Governor Kristi Noem.
The bill makes it clear that only the written exams can be in Spanish. The actual behind-the-wheel driving tests must be given in English.
The Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce supports the legislation, saying it’s a workforce issue.
South Dakota is one of only three states that does not allow driver’s license exams in languages other than English.
