SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — As the weather begins to get warmer Sioux Falls begins to see more people asking for money on the side of the road or “panhandling” for money.
The Sioux Falls police department wants you to know what is and what isn’t illegal.
The department posted on Facebook the differences.
Legal behavior according to the post is holding a sign in public asking for money or goods, and occupying private property with permission asking for money or good.
Behavior that is considered illegal consist of aggressively asking for money or goods from bystanders or motorist, soliciting money on private property without permission asking for money or goods, stepping into traffic to accept money or goods, walking around in traffic soliciting money or goods, drivers holding up traffic to facilitate an exchange of money or goods.
