SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls Police say there were no problems with Saturday’s Black Lives Matter protest on Minnesota Avenue.
Police spokesman Sam Clemens says there were no arrests, and as far as he knows, no complaints.
He said there were no issues from the law enforcement side.
“I think that’s probably what everybody would like to see with the protest,” Clemens said at the daily police briefing. “You know, they’re bringing awareness to an issue that they’re passionate about, and it’s obviously with their constitutional right from the police side of things.”
Clemens added the protest was probably about as safe as it could be.
“So I think it was, as far as that goes, I think it was very successful,” Clemens said.
Clemens says the police are willing to work with protest organizers to make sure such events are safe for everyone.
He said he didn’t know if any more protests were going to occur.
