SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls residents need to work about 32 hours a week to comfortably make rent, a new report says.
The study, conducted by Lattice Publishing on behalf of Self Financial, says a median resident would need to work 32 hours for a one-bedroom and 39 hours for a two-bedroom apartment in the city.
The report uses government data to calculate how much a person would need to work at the city’s median hourly wage to spend no more than 28% of their income on rent. It assumes residents work 52 weeks a year.
Sioux Falls ranks 122nd out of 200 smaller metros studied.
