PINE RIDGE, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety announced on Facebook that The Pine Ridge Indian Reservation would be on lockdown for the next 72 hours.

OST President Bear Runner has declared a 72 Hour Lockdown for the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. All business will be closing and borders closed to everything except emergency vehicles, law enforcement and ambulance! All traffic will be stopped and people will be asked to return home.
Though the post did not directly point to the exact cause of the sudden lockdown, the comment section indicated that it may be a precautionary action in an attempt to stave off an increase in COVID -19 cases.
