SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Sioux Falls Stampede failed to score on the Sioux City Musketeers through the first two periods, but a two-goal third period allowed the Herd to complete the come-from-behind 3-2 victory Saturday night at the PREMIER Center. Jared Westcott scored to tie the game up with less than four minutes remaining in regulation, then again in overtime period. Jaxson Stauber made his third-consecutive start in net, stopping 22 of 24 shots on goal.
The Musketeers set the tone early with a goal by Nolan Krenzen for his third of the season at the 14:40 mark of the first period. Viktor Masilevich and Robby Newton provided the assists on the play.The score remained 1-0 for the remainder of the period and for the entire second as both teams stood strong in front of their goaltenders. The Herd outshot the Musketeers 18-13 through the first two periods.
Timo Bakos finally broke the scoresheet with a perfectly timed pass from Brian Carrabes to tie the game 7:52 into the third period. A minute and 50 seconds Sioux City leading-scorer Sam Stange beat Jaxson Stauber and take the lead back.Jared Westcott tallied his eight of the season on the power play after bringing the puck around the right circle for the snipe above Sioux City goaltender Ethan Haider with 3:34 left in regulation. Westcott finished off the game with another snipe to the opposite side of the net for the victory. Timo Bakos earned the assist on the two-on-one breakaway.The Herd improves to 13-16-3 on the season and four points out of a playoff spot.
