SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, who chairs the Senate Finance Committee, says he wants to push legislation limiting presidential authority on tariffs in 2020.
He told The Hill magazine Wednesday he wants his committee to work on changing the law.
Under the current provision, The President has the authority to impose tariffs for national security purposes.
President Donald Trump’s critics have accused him of abusing the authority by imposing steep steel and aluminum tariffs on U.S. allies such as Canada, Mexico, the European Union and Japan.
