BROOKINGS, S.D. (KELO.com) — If you’re going to use the landfill in Brookings, you now have to tarp your load.
Or, you’ll face a 10 dollar upcharge for an uncovered load. The city has implemented the new law to prevent garbage blowout and pollution.
They don’t want the trash blowing out of your pickup and into neighboring fields, ditches and onto the road. With the current system crews are utilized to clean up a two-mile radius around the landfill (and sometimes all the way to Medary Avenue.
