Augustana’s Hana Beyer has been named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Year, the league office announced Thursday as part of the NSIC Women’s Basketball All-Conference awards.
USF seniors guards Kaely Hummel and Mariah Szymanski have been named to the first team, while Cougar senior forward Jacey Huinker was named to the all-defensive team with Beyer.
Augie senior guard Hora earned second-team honors while teammates Aislinn Duffy and Lauren Sees garnered All-Freshmen Team accolades.
Despite guiding USF to its first women’s NSIC South title in the eight years of the school’s league membership, 12th-year coach Travis Traphagen did not win the Coach of the Year. That honor went to Minnesota-Duluth’s Mandy Peterson, whose team won the North division and finished with a 20-2 league mark, five games better than the Cougars.
Other NSIC Women’s Awards:
Player of the Year – Brooke Olson, Minnesota-Duluth (senior forward, 16 points, 6.3 rebounds)
Freshman of the Year – Jessica Musgrave, Upper Iowa (freshman guard)
Coach of the Year – Mandy Peterson, Minnesota-Duluth
