SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — South Dakotans need to remember to stop for school buses, a release from the Turner County Sheriff’s Department says.
In a post on Facebook, the county sheriff’s office said they had received complaints about drivers passing school buses while children were getting on and off.
“Children should never have to start or end their school day in fear because of impatient motorists,” the post said. “There is no reason to put a child’s safety at risk. Everyone can do their part in helping provide a safe environment for our children to learn and grow.”
Drivers are required to come to a complete stop when a school bus’ red lights are flashing.
