WASHINGTON (KELO.com) — Sen. Mike Rounds says Attorney General William Barr is “solid,” despite the criticism Barr has taken with the Department of Justice withdrawing it sentencing recommendation against Roger Stone.
“He’s not going to do anything improper,” Rounds said about Bar. “He most certainly has the ability to provide oversight to the department of justice, and these prosecutors clearly had a, you know, from day one have tipped off the news media as to what they were going to do.”
Rounds made the comments on KELO Radio’s The Greg Belfrage Show prior to Barr saying that President Donald Trump’s tweets about him and the DOJ make “it impossible for me to do my job.” Barr made the comments in an interview with ABC News.
On a different topic, despite concerns by top Democrats of some of Trump’s actions following his acquittal for impeachment, Rounds doesn’t see Speaker Nancy Pelosi encouraging another shot at impeachment.
“I think she felt like she may very well have been at risk herself if she would not have allowed them to do the impeachment,” Rounds said. “And I think this was as much a message to that far-left group saying, see, ‘I told you so,’ than it was anything else.”
Rounds appeared on The Greg Belfrage Show this morning.
