PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — There are at least 190 COVID-19 cases at the Smithfield Foods plant in Sioux Falls.
Most are workers but a few are family members.
Gov. Kristi Noem made the announcement late this morning.
Noem has also issued a public health emergency for Minnehaha County, the site of a majority of the coronavirus cases in the state.
She says if there is someone who is not self-quarantining, the state would issue an order telling them what they should do.
If the person doesn’t comply, the state can go to court and have Circuit Court order them to comply.
This is a developing story.
