PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — A Pierre woman was arrested Saturday afternoon on multiple charges after driving a vehicle toward another person.
Captain Bryan Walz says officers responded to a reported hit and run crash in the 300 block of North Madison around 3:30 pm. Walz says Central South Dakota Communications received a report of a male and female arguing in the area.
An investigation determined that 28-year-old Sarah Pourier was driving a vehicle as the male party in the argument walked away. Walz says it appears Pourier attempted to assault the male by accelerating toward the male at a high rate of speed. Pourier drove into a driveway nearly striking the male. She then hit a planter, drove through the boulevard and over a curb where she struck a trailer in the street. Pourier then fled the scene.
A South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper spotted the vehicle a short time later in the 500 block of East 5th Avenue where Pourier was located at a nearby residence. Pourier admitted to operating the vehicle at the time of the crash and a DUI investigation concluded she was intoxicated at the time. Pourier was arrested on charges of Aggravated Assault-Domestic Violence, Second Offense DUI, Reckless Driving, Driving Under Suspension and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
Pourier was transported to the Hughes County Jail where she is being held on a $5,000 bond.
