MITCHELL, SD, (KELO.com)–Federal Communication Commissioner Brendan Carr wanted to get a closer look at MIDCO’s improved technology for wireless broadband service in South Dakota.
So, on Thursday, he climbed their 330-foot rural broadband tower near Mitchell.
Carr says, “It opened my eyes…the real work it takes to build-out these networks. We try to do what we can back in D.C. to cut the red tape that slows things down…to actually see what it takes to build these networks out really changes the perspective back in Washington.”
MIDCO was awarded $4.9 million by the Connect America Fund that went towards new wireless broadband installations that will serve more than 157 locations in rural Davison County.
On scene witnessing the climb were some prominent South Dakota figures including Congressman Dusty Johnson and State Senator Josh Klumb.
