PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — Two vans, an old transit bus and some siding took the place of a crashed airplane at Pierre Regional Airport Thursday night.
The vehicles were the center of a full-scale exercise conducted by the airport that let the airport’s ARFF or Airport Rescue Firefighter crew get some firsthand experience.
Airport Manager Mike Isaacs was pleased with the results.
The full-scale exercise involved multiple agencies and Issacs says it’s a benefit to work with all to those who would respond to an actual plane crash.
In order to allow commercial air service to fly from Pierre Regional Airport a full-scale exercise must be completed once every three years.
