BURNSVILLE, Minn. (Augie PR) – Augustana senior Kenneth Griffin has been named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career the league announced Monday.
Griffin tallied a pair of interceptions in the Vikings dominating 48-3 win over MSU Moorhead on Saturday. Both interceptions came in the second quarter on back-to-back Dragon possessions. His second interception was returned 54 yards for a touchdown. The pick-six was the second of his career, while the interception was his fourth of the season. He was also credited with a pass breakup and three tackles in the win.
Griffin now ranks second in the NSIC with his four picks while the Vikings lead the nation in turnovers gained with 22. Augustana now has 12 interceptions and 10 fumble recoveries on the season.
The second-place Vikings play two-straight games on the turf of Kirkeby-Over Stadium beginning with Minot State on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. To purchase tickets, click here.
