South Dakota has played stifling defense in winning its last three games after starting 0-3.
The Coyotes (3-3) won at Northern Colorado 14-6, at home against Indiana State 38-0, and at Missouri State 45-10.
A far stiffer test will be met at No. 15 Northern Iowa (3-3) today. The Panthers, a 6.5-point favorite, took Iowa State to triple overtime and beat Youngstown State 21-14 a couple weeks ago.
Midco Sports Network will televise the game at 4 p.m.
Coyote radio will start its broadcast at 3 p.m.
95.7 FM will carry the broadcast in the Sioux Falls area.
USD coach Bob Nielson said the adjustment to the schemes and personality of new defensive coordinator Travis Johansen has been a major reason for the Yotes’ improvement on that side.
The game is a homecoming of sorts for Nielson, who grew up in Wartburg, Iowa, about 20 miles from Cedar Falls.
