PIERRE, SD, (KELO.com)– Surveying over 5,000 voters across the United States, the Morning Consult keeps up with the most popular and unpopular politicians in each state. It ranks all 100 U.S. senators and all 50 U.S. governors.
In a recent survey, the Morning Consult had two of South Dakota’s politicians in its Top Ten categories.
Senator John Thune was ranked number eight in the United State’s Most Popular senators. His approval rating as of 2019 is 54 percent.
However, Governor Kristi Noem was also ranked number eight, but in the nation’s Top Ten worst U.S. governors. Her disproval rating as of 2019 is 49 percent.
The Morning Consult finds its ratings by looking at the politicians’ approval shift over time and using net approval as the tiebreaker.
The number one Most Popular senator is Angus King of Maine, while the worst senator is Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.
However, Kentucky has the number one worst governor, Matt Bevin, while the top governor is Charlie Baker of Massachusetts.
