SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Whether you grow soybeans or geraniums, the growing season will quickly come to an end.
The National Weather Service says below-freezing temperatures will stop plant growth–particularly sensitive or tender plants–tonight or tomorrow.
The NWS suggests covering plants to try to extend their growing season.
According to Garden.org, the sub-32 degree freeze comes as scheduled for the Sioux Falls area. They say the 90 percent chance of a sub-32 freeze typically occurs on Oct. 11–tomorrow.
The NWS also says the cold snap could cause outdoor pipes to freeze and burst.
