SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — AAA predicts that about 4.5 million people in the Midwest region of the country will be traveling over the Thanksgiving holiday period.
That’s a three percent increase over last year.
AAA expects to handle over 300 roadside service calls in South Dakota, alone, over the long holiday, mostly lock-outs and flat tires.
The regional travel numbers go along with the national trend. AAA expects some 55 million people to be traveling, the highest number in years.
It won’t be easy in many parts of the country because of snowstorms.
There was still a snow alert in Sioux Falls. The streets department had hoped to have all the roads cleared sometime Wednesday evening.
