Northern State made the firing of head football coach Tom Dosch on Wednesday morning.
Dosch was 53-57 during his 10 years as head coach and was named NSIC Coach of the Year in 2014 after leading NSU to an 8-3 record and a share of the NSIC North Division title.
Since then, the Wolves went 6-5 in four of the next five seasons, including 2019, and 4-7 in 2018. NSU lost its Senior Day game to NSIC North champion Minnesota-Duluth 48-10 last Saturday in Dosch’s final game.
“We want to thank Tom for his contributions to Wolves football and NSU over the past 10 years,” said NSU Director of Athletics Josh Moon, in a press release. “Tom built a strong foundation of high character student-athletes who excelled in the classroom. This change is especially difficult because of the steadfast commitment that Tom and his family have made to our community, university and most importantly, our student-athletes.”
Moon has been the A.D. at the school for eight years, but did not hire Dosch. He said a national search for a new coach will begin immediately.
