PIERRE, S.D. (KELO. com) –The state’s new “Meth, we’re on it” campaign got the attention of members of the legislatures Executive Board.
At the end of a briefing with Craig Price, head of the Department of Public Safety, Senator Brock Greenfield of Clark said he has been hearing from people in his district.
“It’s a very distasteful campaign, in my humble opinion,” Greenfield said. “I’m hearing a lot of backlash from a lot of people and the public, thinking that meth addiction shouldn’t be made a punch line.”
Greenfield asked Price to carry his message back, though he didn’t think it would be well received.
The messaging has gone viral, with some significant backlash. Governor Kristi Noem has tweeted that getting attention was the point.
