SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The next phase of the downtown River Greenway Project in Sioux Falls will cost up to $10 million.
Consultant Jon Jacobson with Confluence tells City Council that the focus will be the west bank of the Big Sioux.
“A new connection into Upper Falls Park along the Sioux Steel site down into Kiwanis Park.” There will be access to the Sioux Steel site has it it is re-developed into a mixed-use area of shops, restaurants and residential.
The TenHaken Administration estimates that when this Greenway phase is completed, it could spur $200 million in private investment and generate $2 million in property taxes.
The money for the latest phase is expected to be part of a new bond issue.
They hope the beautification and upgrades will be completed in the summer of 2022.
