SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (USD PR) — South Dakota junior center Hannah Sjerven received the Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period ended Dec. 8.
Sjerven scored a career-high 28 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked five shots in Wednesday’s 72-65 win over Creighton. It marked her third career game with five or more blocked shots. She also led the team on the boards against Coppin State, grabbing eight rebounds in limited minutes as the Coyotes won 82-44.
A native of Rogers, Minnesota, Sjerven receives the Summit’s honor for the second time of her career.
Sjerven’s 20 blocks this season ranks 22nd in the nation and second in the Summit League. Her field-goal percentage of 55.4 percent ranks third and her 6.5 rebounds per game ranks 10th in the league.
The Coyotes, who last week ranked No. 24 in the finish off their four-game home stand with a pair of games this week. South Dakota hosts Mount Marty at 7 p.m. Wednesday, followed by Montana at 1 p.m. Sunday.
