<strong>
Working on Wellness Wednesday—9-10 –except for
the many Farm Shows we do – always seems to include a Wednesday—but we know
that medical is important to those in Agriculture as well.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
We start with Chrisy Meyer—Heart Association—the
Heart Walk is the largest of the fundraisers for the American Heart Association
and helps raise funds to further work in South Dakota. The Heart Walk is made
possible by the support of Avera Health and the Avera Heart Hospital.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
Heart Disease is the #1 killer of all South
Dakotans taking roughly 2100 lives every year. The good news is that heart
disease and stroke are 80% preventable with lifestyle change.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
This event is Saturday—1 or 3 mile
routes—at Fawick Park. The event is free, family-friendly.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
9:19—Dave Jansa—Face it Together is with
us—and we have shared the Face It story here in Sioux Falls over the past 5
years —now while Sioux Falls is home—Denver is the FLAGSHIP with a new
granted project that will affect so many in need in the mile high City.11 new coaches there are already seeing
clients.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
David Jansa is Director of Addictive
Management Training—and the grant is a 1.2 million baby from Daniels Fund—also support
from Anschutz Medical.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
In Sioux Falls—contract with State of South
Dakota, Division of Behavioral Health would allow expanding of the recovery
coaching into target communities in SD to provide workplace education focusing
on opioids.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
They are now identifying communities in South
Dakota—principally Rapid City/Black Hills, Aberdeen and Vermillion/Yankton.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
Also working to expand funding from SAMHSA
through their State Opioid Response Funding Opportunities.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
9:32— we return to a topic we did earlier
this year with Dr. Wallace Jackmon—Avera Behavioral Health.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
He had spoken to the South Dakota State
Forums as a clinical psychologist and licensed social worker..but in late May
but he was chosen to present to the National Association of Social Workers
Convention.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
His topic—media induced anxiety and
depression —sharing that the advent of smartphones, social media applications
like Facebook, Twitter, Snap Chat have taken over the lives of the users.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
That is also a direct link for
suicides—they in deed lose their lives to the social devices—and they don’t
control their time anymore.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
We want to know how he was received on the
National Stage—what he learned and can share with our audience today.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
9:45—we talk with Travis Jurgen –Comfort King.
For me I only get one chance each night for a good night’s sleep. That’s why I
have a Comfort King.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
One of our account executives Jill Jose – who
just recently got a Comfort King shares her experience— and why the good night
sleep is important for her and husband as well.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
They have been voted Sioux Falls Best for
more than a decade.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
Our show is available by podcast—thanks to
Norm Anderson. Please use this blog as a tool for finding the topic you might
want to listen to.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
The show is much easier to find compared to
when we first started 2300 shows ago. 1320, 105.1, 107.9 –the KELO-AM App,
Streaming, or just ask Alexa.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
In addition many of those in our show chose
to share their interviews with clients and friends on-line.
