SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Mayor Paul TenHaken says the Sioux Falls City Council will likely extend the current mask mandate through the end of March.
He says that’s because the coronavirus vaccines likely won’t be available to the public until then.
TenHaken also says it’s because it’s hard to analyze data that are taken in 30-day chunks.
Another reason he says is because of the ordinance passage process.
TenHaken estimates mask-wearing at about 70-80% of the population now versus about 30-40% prior to the ordinance.
The Council is schedule to have a first reading of the mask extension Tuesday evening.
