PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) – State officials are considering a merger of the fourth and seventh circuit courts.
Currently, the two systems work together when needed, but court administrators say it would make more sense to just combine the circuits together permanently.
A proposal would create a new Chief Clerk of Court position that would distribute and facilitate work throughout Pennington, Lawrence and Meade counties.
Officials say one of their goals is to ensure that all current offices would remain open.
