UNDATED (KELO.com) — Experts say a recent cyberattack in Pennington County’s government operations system was likely the work of a foreign government. The county had to shut down public access to government services July 5th during the attack. Iran, China and Russia are mentioned as possible suspects. At the same time, Iranian hackers are believed to be behind recent cyber attacks on Minnesota water systems. The Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency has alerted water system operators that hackers are trying to change passwords to lock out current operators. The goal appears to be to disrupt services, and not to blackmail for ransom payments.
