UNDATED (KELO.com) — The sounds of chainsaws and heavy equipment are spreading across the region, and the sounds of skill saws and hammers won’t be far behind. Heavy storms left a long train of damage late Sunday afternoon. Soon, contractors will be moving in to repair the damage. Jessie Schmidt of the Better Business Bureau says it pays to be thorough and deliberate before hiring anyone to do the work. “Watch for those unlicensed contractors. When you hire somebody, you want to make sure they’re licensed, bonded and insured.”
Schmidt says scammers use the chaos of disaster to gain access to properties and insurance claims. You can check this site to make sure you’re dealing with a reputable contractor. https://www.bbb.org/
