SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.c0m) — You can water your lawn, but in Sioux Falls you need to watch the clock and the calendar when you do. Odd/Even calendar restrictions are year-round, along with a watering ban between noon and 5pm each day. Also, City Water Program coordinator Darin Freese says the amount of water you use will affect the rates, “On the meter, you’re billed in units, and each unit is 748 gallons. So, your first seven (units) are at base rate, 8 to 50 go to a slightly higher rate, and once you hit 51, the rate is almost double.” For the curious, the higher rates apply after you consume approximately 38,000 gallons.
City officials also remind citizens that grass and weeds need to be kept under eight inches in height according to city ordinance. Fines and additional charges can also be applied.
