Homeowners sue city of Sioux Falls over proposed location of new Smithfield plant

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Homeowners impacted by the proposed new location of a Smithfield Foods Plant are suing the city of Sioux Falls.  21 people have signed on to the lawsuit, saying the city rushed a conditional use permit.  They claim the city didn’t do enough research on traffic and odor problems, and are asking a judge to overturn the permit or send it back to the city council.  The proposed new plant would be built near Crooks, on the northwestern edge of Sioux Falls.
