OMAHA, NE (KELO.com) — More than half of the bankers in our region say the economy is in recession. That’s the main point of this month’s Rural Mainstreet Index from Creighton University. South Dakota’s reading improved from a month ago, but is still in negative territory. Farm exports from the state during the first two months of 2026 were down by more than 60-percent compared to the same period a year ago.
