SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls School District tax levy is projected to decline by more than 23-percent in 2027. The School Board has given preliminary approval to a $343-million spending plan, but officials say the spending level may not be sustainable long term. Superintendent Dr. Jamie Nold says the package includes increased teacher salaries, “So, we did recommend to the Board, after being asked to go back and look at it, to go to 1.95% (salary increase), which was the negotiated rate, to go to 2.54%, which equates to the rate of inflation.” The budget proposal also includes 7 new teachers, including 3 positions that will allow the district to maintain the current classroom size.
