CANTON, SD (KELO.com) — The Lincoln County Planning & Zoning Commission has placed a hold on an application for a conditional use permit for a large dairy operation. Landowners packed this week’s Commission meeting, only to hear the application has been delayed. Several residents spoke on the project, including farmer Jason Vandentop. He says he was surprised to learn the company had listed land that he farms as one of the areas where manure will be spread. He said the company hadn’t even contacted him about including his land in the manure management plan. Milk & Honey Holdings, LLC and Cedar Lane Dairy ,LLC want to expand dairy operations with a 62-hundred head operation. Nearby residents are worried about air and water pollution, heavy truck traffic and noise.
