CROOKS, SD (KELO.com) — Heavy truck traffic and potential pollution are some of the major concerns about plans to build a new Smithfield Foods plant. Residents of Crooks packed the Community Center Monday night to voice their opposition. One resident said, “Everybody in this town is very upset about this.” The Sioux Falls City Council holds first reading on establishing a Tax Increment Financing District for the plant Tuesday night, with a decision on the TIF district set for March 17th.
