PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — South Dakota residents are getting some legislative help in avoiding crypto scams. Legislators gave final approval to a bill that holds the owners of Crypto ATMs responsible for fraudulent transactions. Jessie Schmidt of the Better Business Bureau says the ATM owners will be required to refund fraudulent transactions. That could be extremely expensive, with estimates that at least 98% of all Crypto ATMs deal with fraud. In Sioux Falls alone there have been several crypto scams that involved tens of thousands of dollars, and some into the hundreds of thousands. Governor Rhoden is expected to sign the bill Wednesday.
