PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — Make your plans now if you’re hoping to attend the Independence Day Fireworks at Mount Rushmore to honor the nation’s 250th birthday. Governor Rhoden announced a ticket lottery for the event – the only way you can get a ticket. “Mount Rushmore is a powerful symbol of freedom and American spirit,” said Governor Rhoden. “As the freest state in the nation, South Dakota is proud to welcome visitors from across the country as we celebrate America’s birthday and our values of independence, freedom, and liberty. God bless America!”
The event will be held on July 3, 2026, in partnership with the U.S. Department of the Interior and the National Park Service. Tickets are required and will be distributed through a public lottery.
