PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — The state aid to education formula will change under a bill passed by the South Dakota House Education committee Monday morning. The bill would give schools a minimum annual funding increase of the inflation rate or three percent – whichever is higher. The current formula calls for an increase of the rate of inflation of three percent, whichever is lower. The initial vote to approve the measure failed, but the committee voted later to advance it to the House Appropriations Committee without a recommendation to pass it.
