South Dakota (KELO.com) — Will South Dakota get in on the AI driven Data Center bonanza or be watching from the sidelines? The centers consume huge amounts of power South Dakota currently doesn’t have. Officials want to make sure everyday consumers don’t get stuck with the bill of building higher generation capacity for power they don’t use. State Senator Casey Crabtree and Representative Kent Roe will propose legislation in coming weeks to provide that protection. Senator Crabtree says the centers will provide millions of dollars of property tax relief under the plan and will also create new high paying jobs for South Dakota residents.
