SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls School Board has voted to give most teachers and staff an $800 bonus this month.
Board President Cynthia Mickelson says it’s to recognize all the hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We all hear you, we see you, we read your emails, We know the stress you are all undergoing and we want to recognize that.”
Anyone working over 30 hours a week gets the bonus. They should see the bonus in November paychecks.
The vote to approve the extra money was 4-0 with one abstention.
Teachers have been dealing with in-class learning, remote learning, and special education challenges in the midst of the pandemic, in a school year like no other.
