Pine Ridge, SD (KELO.com) — Suicide and youth substance abuse has been devastating on South Dakota’s Reservations but a group on the Pine Ridge reservation believe they’ve found a powerful weapon to counter the problems. A coalition of 16 organizations have been brought together by a grant by FORE. Project Venture’s Founder Mac Hall says they’re using Native American culture and ceremonies to break the grip of opioids on youth. Project Venture also engages youth in outdoor adventures, service activities and leadership training during the school year.
