Fort Pierre, SD (KELO.com) — It was the 77th annual Verendrye Benevolent Association Horse Races in Fort Pierre over the weekend. A lot goes into holding the event every year, but Track Manager Shane Karmme says it’s an important tradition for the area. Kids also got into the act, as they ran for the roses with their stick horses. Not to be left out, adults won prizes for wearing their best Kentucky Derby style attire.
