Washington D.C. (KELO.com) — The Federal budget year ends September 30th, and a government shutdown is looming. Senators John Thune and Chuck Schumer had this battle a year ago, but they switched titles. Thune became majority leader and Schumer is now filling the minority leadership seat. Senator Thune is proposing a short-term measure to keep the Government operating until late November. This will give the Senate time to debate appropriations bills in a more conventional fashion.
