SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls Police have no additional leads in the disappearance of 11-year-old Nakia Jackson.
The best theory police have is that someone in a black or dark-colored car picked her up near the airport on N. Minnesota Ave Thursday morning.
Police say they are frustrated by the lack of information coming from the public.
“We’re a better community than this,” Lt. Terrance Matia said at Friday morning’s daily police briefing. He said he’s disappointed in the citizens in that the CrimeStoppers tip line only received two calls in Saturday night’s homicide of 18-year-old Vance Kitungano and none for Nakia Jackson.
Matia said that the disappearance is out of character for Nakia. He said she is a straight-A student at George McGovern Middle School. He also said she has no cell phone or social media accounts.
Police said when the dark car stopped, it snarled traffic, and probably 20-30 cars drove by. Matia says someone had to see something at that time.
Matia also said that police responded within 30 second to a call that said a girl was walking alone near the airport. After the officer from Russell and Minnesota Ave. arrived, Nakia was gone.
SFPD also released a photo of the type of pajama bottoms Nakia was wearing. (See left.) They have characters from “Lilo and Stitch” on them. She was also wearing a black shirt.
Police ask that you call them at 605-367-7000, even if you have the smallest tidbit of information.
