SPEARFISH CANYON, SD (KELO.com) — Over 1700 people are speaking out against a plan to explore for gold in the Black Hills. Solitario Resources wants to drill at up to 49 sites on public land, many in the Spearfish Canyon area. Tribal leaders and local residents say the proposal threatens the canyon. The company also did exploratory drilling in the same area last year.
