Initial steps have been taken to get rid of South Dakota property tax

PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — A group that wants to do away with South Dakota’s property tax is taking the initial steps to make it happen.  They’re proposing a transaction tax to replace the property tax.  The transaction tax would be $1.50, and apply to all purchases except those under $15, which would be taxed ten percent.  They’re trying to get an approved version so they can circulate petitions to place it on the ballot.
